Horses have hooves and sometimes they crack or split.

To repair a toe crack, first clean the area well and file off any rough edges. On both sides of the crack, file a depression about the width of a dime and about a quarter of an inch deep.

Drill two small holes on either side of the crack. Drive two small screws into the holes but leave enough of the screw protruding so you can wrap the wire around it securely.

Bind the two screws together tightly with a length solid copper wire. Tighten down the screws just until the wire is held firmly place.

Fill in the depression with a mixture of powdered hoof and epoxy. After the epoxy sets, file it smooth.
